street wear and high fashion fusion

With the recent development in both streetwear and high fashion, the term "fusion" is being more and more used and also practiced.

Japanese members only store, Celux, collaborates with Nike on some AF1's.

Nigo throws a party for italian luxury label Fendi.

Stussy collaborates with Sophnet and other more high end brands and launches Stussy Lux.

The strict barriers between streetwear and high end fashion seem to get smaller and smaller and you also see more people being attracted by both. Recent articles in recognized press talk about the future of fashion being exactly the fusion of these two worlds. Streetwear seems to be both inspired by high end fashion and on the other hands seems to inspire high end fashion.

a few example lines that the fusion is best viewed on.

My personal fav-The new collection combines Folklore and Pop, especially with lots of bright yellow being in the collection. While mostly presenting traditional clothing they changed that traditional look with pop prints on classic shirts and the use of funky colors.Cashmere sweaters and at the same time t-shirts with Lichtenstein-like prints can be found in the new collection. If you look at streetwear over the past few months we have seen a lot of Lichtenstein inspired designs, most namely in the recent Supreme NY collection. Also Viktor & Rolf have in every collection now lots of crewneck sweaters and hoodies, something that you did not see in high end brands much before.

The Japanese brand Comme des Garcons, designed by Rei Kawakubo, has always been a brand to fuse high end fashion and streetwear, picking the best products from other brands and re-inventing them in their very own style. The new collection is once again inspired by the 80's in London. CdG always takes something existing and radically changes it while still showing where the inspiration came from

Here we come now to the prime example of fusion. junya watanabe always collaborates with classic brands and re-invents these classics. Collaborators in this year collection are Vanson Leathers, a leading American manufacturer of motorcycle jackets and Barbour, english manufacturer of outdoor jackets

Many times presenting collection with a huge punk inspiration, Vivienne Westwood is also a designer to break the rules a lot.The new collection seems almost a little too nice to what we are used. Too simple, compared to what we have seen before. But simple in a good way, in a way that actually makes you think you can wear very easily what she is putting out there. Also in her collection you see a lot of checker designs and outfits and you see these balloon pants that get thin in the bottom. The same kind we have also seen in a previous preview of the Silly Thing collection. When seeing them on somebody they actually look much more normal than when you just see them on a picture.
